Making Great Moments is MGM’s brand purpose. We implement our corporate culture in our well-being strategies in 4 interconnected dimensions: mental health, physical health, work safety, and engagement, making great moments for employees through cultivating a positive and healthy workplace.

Past Achievements:

2. Green Champion by Green Monday in Hong Kong (2018)
3. Corporate Safety & Health Awards by Macau Government (2017)
4. Responsible Gaming Microfilm Champion amongst the six Macau gaming operators (2017)
5. Launching tailor-made occupational health and safety eLearning series for employees (2019) with 94% completion rate since launch
6. Extending occupational insurance coverage, insuring to-and-from work traffic accidents in addition to workplace injuries (since 2017)
7. Establishing employee assistance fund (since 2017), giving financial support to employees with critical illness or affected by the disastrous Typhoon Hato
8. Introducing Employee Assistance Program (since 2010) commissioning a third-party organization to provide confidential and complimentary face-to-face and 24-hour line counseling services to employees and their families resolving personal/family issues

CARE – Raising Safety Awareness and Promoting a Healthy Workplace

1. Health & Safety Campaign
Our content-rich campaign throughout Q4 2020 presented a series of fun-filled activities including health check and game booths, fitness classes, health seminars, and departmental competitions.

2. Two-Way Communication Campaign -Fostering a Trusting & Cohesive Work Environment
In Q2 2021, we launched this campaign with prize quiz, roadshow, and departmental noticeboard design competition to promote two-way communications while introducing our diversified communication channels.

COVID-19–Ensuring Employee Health and Leading the Company through the Pandemic

- Keep track of employees’ travel & health record in case of lockdown or outbreak
- Provide face masks to employees on daily basis
- Set up temperature screening checkpoints at Employee Entrances
- Offer accommodation for employees due to border restrictions
- Rearrange seating in Employee Dining Room to allow social distance and ensure back-of-house facility hygiene
- Arrange casino frontline employees and cold chain handlers to undergo nucleic acid test in phases
- Organize employee group/in-house COVID-19 vaccination sessions in support of Government’s precautionary measures.
- Launch Leisure Leave Plus program (leave with 50% pay) to give employees extra time off with family

CONNECT – Adopting a Multi-Channel Approach to Engage with Employees Anytime, Anywhere

While utilizing our existing digital channels including employee intranet, Employee APP and MGMShare Facebook page, we recently launched MGM WeChat account in April 2021 to deliver timely posts and important messages and stay connected with employees.

We offered expanded support in employee’s holistic well-being:

Apart from safety signages/posters, regular safety trainings and effective risk assessment by HR and safety committee, we educated employees and raised safety awareness through fun-packed activities and achieved significant result in work injury figures ─ with ZERO INJURY in the month we launched Health & Safety campaign in MGM MACAU. Moreover, MGM’s 2020 work injury rate per thousand is 8.5%, which is remarkably lower than the overall Macau figure (10.7%) according to government statistics.

We are devoted to taking care of employee’s physical and mental health, especially during pandemic. In 2020, we scaled up employee medical care investment to a total of USD 8.61M (VS USD 8.47M in 2019) covering life insurances, medical, dental, and hospitalization expenses of employees at all levels =USD 816 per employee. In addition, we offered additional work-life options to employees by launching Leisure Leave Plus program to offer extra time off WITH 50% PAY as we understand they need more family time during this critical period. Totally we have granted 823,000+ days extra paid leaves to employees. In addition, around 4,500 days paid vaccine leaves have been given to employees who registered for Company group COVID-19 vaccination.

As many employees were out-of-town or worked remotely during pandemic, we leveraged technology to stay connected and increase employee engagement. With our diversified digital channels, we sent out COVID-19 updates and caring messages, while employees could access HR services, eLearning resources (learners ↑100% during pandemic) and internal news anytime, anywhere.
