Alternatif Bank joined the Turkish banking industry in 1991. The Commercial Bank (P.S.Q.C), the first private bank of Qatar, one of the leading and reputable financial institutions in the region, became the controlling shareholder of Alternatif Bank with 75% in 2013. Alternatif Bank focuses on establishing versatile and long-term relationships with its customers and developing these relationships further over time. It provides services in foreign trade, insurance and cash management areas, especially in Corporate, Commercial, Retail and Private Banking. There is a fair and transparent communication with business units and employees, an organization that is close to the employee, accessible, not afraid of change, and a strategy that supports this development and a strategy dominated by common mind.

We, as Alternatif Bank, believe that culture is an important factor in company success. We train our leaders with an understanding that reflects the values of the company and encourages and develops our culture. We designed the Alternatif Bank Leadership Development Program as a strategic and comprehensive cultural change and development program to prepare the leaders of the future for this entire strategic plan and develop their competencies in this direction.

Within our constantly learning organization, we started to create our leaders and our leader pool, based on the bank's culture and values and inspiring the next generations. We aimed to prepare each of our leader candidates for their new duties by supporting them with 1-year training and coaching programs in line with their potential. While designing the Leadership Development Program; We set out from a setup that puts the employee in the center, tailored to the needs of each employee, personalized, and providing 360-degree development. Inspired by our competency set, which we created by putting the Growth Mindset at the core of the business, we aimed to inject Alternatif Bank competencies into our employees through modular pieces of training built on each other. We planned the training courses that will help employees discover themselves, based on the 70-20-10 methodology. On our training courses which took place 100% online due to the pandemic, we created environments where employees can improve themselves with blended learning, reverse learning setups, inter-module projects/assignments, personality inventories, 360-degree inventories, simulations of real-life examples and events, and individual coaching. With the social responsibility projects, the last module of the training, we enabled the employees to mobilize larger audiences and contribute to society as a team. At the end of the training program, we measured our employees’ business goals and success. In this context, we observed that the numerical targets of our employees who participated in the training were 22% more successful than those who did not.

Alternatif Bank Leader Development Program; differs from the usual development programs in the Turkish banking sector with the following basic features:

In summary, LDP has been designed and implemented as an innovative and strategic leadership program not only in the banking sector in Turkey but also in line with the trends in the education and development sector.

Despite the economic difficulties brought by the pandemic period, the high number of Covid-19 cases in our country and the losses experienced within the organization, the contribution of our employees who received training after the development center process and training programs, compared to our employees who did not receive training, are among the success indicators of the program. In addition, the views of both our participants and their managers have a positive effect on the impact of the training program on employee retention and motivation.

KPI Results:
It is observed that the training group has a higher success rate than the non-trained group in each target item. The average improvement rate across all target items is 22%.

Motivation Survey Results:
A motivation survey was conducted in September 2020, in which our employees evaluated how motivated they were. Again, after the training, they were expected to complete the same survey in May 2021 and the progress was measured. When the survey results were examined;

After this training program, our managers assessed that their employees as shown below;

• Development of leadership competencies 4.2 / 5
• The evaluated the increase in loyalty to the institution as 4.5/5.

Lastly, we would like to proudly inform you that after the training program, 2 of our employees were promoted to a higher title and carried out their new duties as Branch Manager.
