As a global provider of expert solutions, Wolters Kluwer embraces a collaborative, flexible culture. Prior to COVID- 19, 20% of our 18,600 employees worked remotely, with the majority operating from offices worldwide. Responding to guidance from governments and health experts, our executives decided to take our enterprise virtual in March. Sixteen days later, 94% of our workforce pivoted to work from home (WFH). The transition was smooth thanks to investments in technology infrastructure, culture, and innovation.
Supporting our people with technology, guidance, and resources required early activation of incident management teams, global IT Service Desk, and fast tracking the global expansion of our digital collaboration technologies.
Also, an enterprise WFH communications and HR team increased bidirectional communication. We expanded the number of live, virtual sessions with senior leaders to provide interaction and launched virtual meetings to promote open dialogue and innovation. We doubled down on internal social media, delivered special edition weekly digest emails, and provided updates to hundreds of manager and employee FAQs, resources for well- being, and much more. ;
This enabled our teams to quickly deliver hundreds of COVID-19 related product innovations to help our customers respond to challenges that the pandemic brought to their professions.
Proof of our resiliency was reflected in our April employee pulse survey results. Over 90% of our people felt connected and had regular updates on of all the changes; 95% of employees expressed they were productive while WFH; and 95% of employees believed the company supported their health and well- being.
