The business operates across the globe and its biggest offices are located in Bedford, MA, USA; Sofia, Bulgaria; Hyderabad, India; and Rotterdam, the Netherlands, employing 1,500+ people.

Our Human Capital (HC) team has partnered with the internal communications team to ensure employees have the information and resources they need during the pandemic. They launched an online portal with the latest COVID- 19 updates, WFH resources, and productivity tips, and they have been sending weekly company- wide emails. Global virtual All Hands meetings have also been occurring on a monthly basis to address employees’ questions. And fun initiatives have been launched to engage employees, such as our weekly #ProgressTrending game where employees respond to prompts on Yammer for a chance to win a gift card and the very first Progress’ Got Talent Show. Moreover, Senior Leadership recorded a special “thank you” video for employees’ spirit and productivity.

Regarding achievements outside of COVID- 19, a lot of work has been done to foster and promote a “Progress Proud” culture. In the summer of 2019, a new intranet was launched, titled MyProgress, with a completely different design and user experience. Complete with a news section, articles are constantly featured on employees and the great work they’re doing, either business focused or community focused. Internal communication tactics have also helped build an inclusive culture by promoting cultural holidays and celebrations, such as Pride Month and Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. And in an effort to highlight how “Progress Proud” employees are, a campaign was established where employees submit what makes them Proud to work at Progress where their quotes would be featured on internal and/or external communication pieces.

The highlighted achievements showcase how committed Human Capital, Internal Communications and the executive teams are to keep employees informed, connected and engaged. A specific task force was assigned to the COVID- 19 communication to employees to ensure that all necessary information was delivered to employees in an effective manner. And when members of the COVID team heard employees’ need for mental wellness resources, they quickly arranged for webinars on the topic to be available.

Outside of COVID, there has been an immense effort in building an inescapable Progress Proud culture. Previously, product news was the essential factor to internal communications. Now, the focus is on the employees, or as we call each other, Progressers. The redesign of our intranet, MyProgress, took over a year to complete and was not just relaunched to look better, it was meant to better serve employees and to centralize Progress initiatives: from efforts around corporate social responsibility and inclusion and diversity, to employee feature stories. The videos from Progress’ Got Talent were promoted on MyProgress and received over 1200 views from a company of roughly 1500 employees. Worldwide holidays and cultural traditions are featured on MyProgress, and employees receive front and center treatment. If they’re behind a new product launch, spearheaded a volunteer initiative, or are lending their voices to topics on inclusion and diversity, they will be featured on MyProgress and promoted on other internal communication channels.
