Nomination Title: Unleashing Entrepreneurship


New World Development Company Limited (NWD), a premium brand infused with a unique personality defined by The Artisanal Movement, was founded in 1970 and publicly listed in Hong Kong in 1972. Its core business areas include property development, property investment, roads, aviation, construction and insurance, with operations in Greater China and especially in the Greater Bay Area.

Moving forward on its Artisanal journey, NWD is transforming into a unique ecosystem- centered institution that provides variety of services enriching social culture and enhancing people’s life. Staff members of high potential (“HIPO”) with entrepreneurial spirit are essential to contribute innovative ideas and drive these ideas to be implemented. NWD is therefore eager to develop and retain talents whose entrepreneurial spirit possesses the following characteristics:

-Forward Strategic Planning Ability

-A dedicated focus on driving results

-Good leadership skills with a commitment to talent grooming

-High Emotional Quotient (EQ)/ Adversity Quotient (AQ)

-Skills in solving complex problems

-Critical and proactive self- awareness


The following untraditional initiatives are deployed to identify and groom the HIPOs.

1. A · Entrepreneur Adventure Day

A ground- breaking talent identification and grooming programme to unleash the entrepreneurship of the talents.

Took the form of a competition combining elements of Hackathon with other creative components, to provide an unparalleled opportunity for staff to present innovative ideas and demonstrate their creativity in fostering the New World Group’s (“The Group”) business.

Participants pitched their unique business ideas, showcasing their entrepreneurship before the panel of senior management and start- up.

Participants could interact with the entrepreneurs from the Group and the start- up communities to gain insights on their business ideas, or even personal learning from the entrepreneurs’ experience.

Outstanding talents identified would lead the entrepreneurial projects in The Group, and be further groomed on their entrepreneurship.


2. Engagement in Entrepreneur Projects

To enhance the HIPOs’ exposure and experience as Entrepreneur, HIPOs are invited to go beyond their daily routine, put aside their original job scope to lead or participate in the Group’s entrepreneur projects for at least 6 months.

They took the projects as their own business, from idea generation, planning, and drive the idea to success.


3. Connecting the Talents

Workshops and networking events are organized to provide a platform where the HIPOs can exchange their ideas and experience with each other, and enhance the cohesiveness among the HIPOs.

HIPOs could join Evangelist Programme which aims to foster an entrepreneur’s disruptive mindset through experiential outreaching, and engagement with experts and industry leaders.
