Company: MTM Inc.
Category: Most Valuable HR Team
MTM’s HR team continues to be the driving force behind the overarching goal of protecting our business and employees. Early in 2020, an HR-led task force was formed and included departmental stake holders.
Through this task force, MTM leadership collaborated to manage decreased volume and profitability while keeping staff employed. The unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic posed significant challenges which could not have been handled without the HR team.
In retrospect, it is clear that MTM’s HR team was foundational in protecting our organization by:
-Ceasing all travel in March 2020
-Organizing C- Suite communications
-Offering daily Mindfulness Sessions
-Reducing work hours for non- exempt staff rather than widespread layoffs
-Providing resources for working parents and caregivers
-Offering optional furloughs with job security for employees needing additional time off
-Maintaining all health benefits for furloughed employees and those with reduced hours and contacting for weekly check- ins
-Transitioning all onboarding and training to virtual environments
-Creating a Covid-19 playbook: Provided guidelines regarding facility and workspace protocols, visitor access, screening, PPE guidelines, communication, employee wellness and benefits to guide all employees and leaders
-Hosting virtual Q&A Town Halls: For employees to ask questions about the Cares Act, compensation, health benefits, and WFH best practices
These initiatives led to an all- time high in our employee engagement score during the pandemic. Our employees reported an increase in safety and trust during uncertain times and for this MTM’s HR team was the most valuable department for the organization.
