Company: DHL Supply Chain UK & Ireland
Category: Most Valuable Employer
At DHL Supply Chain in the United Kingdom and Ireland (DSC UKI), we employ over 40,000 colleagues who work in a diverse range of sectors across our 400 sites every day.
As a supply chain business, part of our role is to ensure vital supplies of food, hygiene items, medicine and medical supplies get to where they need to be.
As a result, during the pandemic our colleagues were considered ‘key workers’, providing an essential role in keeping the UKI moving, and have continued to work throughout the crisis.
To keep operations running effectively, we set up a dedicated COVID- 19 Taskforce (a team of functional and operational experts from across the business) that:
-Implemented and monitored daily reporting of COVID- 19 cases
-Established a dedicated email address to issue communications and receive questions
-Kept our people safe by creating specific content to inform and educate colleagues and managers about safety topics relating to COVID- 19
-Kept colleagues informed, engaged, inspired (through a comprehensive communication and engagement approach) – including announcements, videos, virtual meetings, campaigns and more
-We asked colleagues to work from home where possible (for head office/functional roles) and re- deployed operational colleagues from non- essential sites to essential operations through Project Mobilize to avoid having to put them on furlough.
As a result:
-Our Safety scores improved YTD by 25%
-2,000 queries received and responded to by COVID- 19 email
-Redeployed c1400 colleagues to support critical business like the National Health Service and pop- up hospitals
