Nomination Title: HR Professional of the Year - Cisco Executive Director Macy Andrews

Macy Andrews leads two amazing teams that bring crazy results to Cisco’s business goals.

One side of #TeamMacy is the award- winning (30+ awards in 2019) @WeAreCisco Talent Brand team. She enables fantastic metrics by giving the team permission to take calculated risks. The team has become the gold standard or employer branding, with employee- generated content amplified on every @WeAreCisco social media account (all with 2X+ industry engagement) and a blog that has been called “one of the best in corporate America.” The transparency around attracting talent with current talent drives employee retention and excitement.

The other side of #TeamMacy is the University Recruiting (UR) team, which recruited and onboarded 4,000 interns and newly graduated students into 50+ technical and non- technical roles for 90 Cisco office locations in 30+ countries this past year. That includes managing a 29% increase in hiring in the hyper- competitive talent market in India. 2019 was the highest university recruiting volume year in Cisco’s history, with an increase of 8% YOY! She also worked to institute high school internship programs available to at- risk high school students who would benefit from the technical training an on- site experience can provide, and prioritized eco- friendly giveaways while at events.

An example of her leadership was when the Talent Brand team was selected for a LinkedIn Live Beta program. The team paved new roads - with employees as hosts - to Cisco’s 2 million+ LinkedIn followers. With over 300K minutes watched since the Beta launched, they were able to see how one video affected our Cisco page - increasing organic impressions by 95%, shares by 81% and reactions by 247% vs previous day.

And the unexpected but wonderful benefit of all of this work is how Macy’s leadership for Cisco’s Great Place to Work ranking has seen the 2019 Great Place to Work Survey result numbers rise in all categories from 6- 8%. The focus has been on “for all” – as in “Is Cisco a great place for all.” Do women, people of color, all levels, all generations, etc. feel the same and equal? The answer is a resounding yes, since Cisco rose from 89th in the US 3 years ago to #6 in the U.S. in 2019 and also the #1 World’s Best for 2019!

Macy’s UR team increased the quality and diversity of hires in 2019, while maintaining the company’s lowest cost per fill. Her leadership resulted in hiring managers rating their 2019 interns’ job skills as the highest on record and DOUBLING the number of offers made to top female students at the 2019 Grace Hopper Conference.

Talent Brand’s KPIs all follow the marketing funnel, growing awareness, engaging talent to consider Cisco as a great place to work, and taking an action (visit a blog, go to the careers site, etc.) All of this has the foundation of employee advocacy as a trusted source of information, but also as a retention and referral model. While UR benchmarks against the industry and metrics Year over year.
