Nomination Title: Safety Training for Everyone

Products Essay

Offering safety training for employees isn’t just good practice, it’s mandatory for many companies. ej4’s safety training covers important topics such as personal protective equipment and forklift safety. It goes beyond to include topics such as OSHA recordkeeping and hearing conservation. Our safety courses give learners well-rounded training to help prevent injuries or jeopardize the safety of others.

Safety Training for Everyone

Workplace safety is everyone’s responsibility, which is why many of our safety courses include videos specifically for managers and others for employees. This helps managers understand the legal standards they need to meet and protects employees from on-the-job risks. Series such as “Hazard Communication”, “Forklift Safety,” “Hearing Conservation,” and our series on Carbon Monoxide all include both manager and employee versions of the courses. It is critical for all employees to retain the information they learn in a safety course, so dividing up the content that’s relevant for managers and employees helps to deliver critical learning points more effectively.

Safety Training Isn’t Just for Construction Sites and Warehouses

Our safety training covers many hands-on topics like electrical safety, operating forklifts, using personal protective equipment, and so much more. But safety training isn’t limited to places with heavy machinery and hazards. Many of our safety courses prepare office-based employees for fire risks, first aid, and more. Do you know where the closest fire extinguisher to your desk is? What if an employee trips over a pile of Amazon boxes and breaks a bone, or someone starts choking in the lunchroom?

All of these scenarios can easily happen in any workplace, which is why we created our “First Aid” and “Slips, Trips, and Falls” series, among others. Our “First Aid” series was designed to help employees learn how to apply first aid, or to recognize when an injury requires professional attention. “Slips, Trips, and Falls” generates awareness around potential walking hazards in your office, such as unmarked drops or uneven surfaces.

Unique, Creative Design Elements

Safety is a critical topic to train employees on but is often delivered in unimaginative, unengaging ways. ej4’s safety training content is designed with interesting and creative visuals that engage the learner but don’t distract from the learning points. Our series on “Hazard Communication” features colorful, swirly oil and bright colors, a departure from the typical black and brown colors of oils and hazardous materials. Our courses on working in hot and cold weather were designed to represent the temperature of each respective work environment.

These visual elements help the learner build connections and retain the content they are learning. In our first aid series, you’ll see images related to medical professionals and first aid kits. In our series on confined spaces, you’ll the font is a little squished and the designs feel tighter to reflect the concept of working in a confined space. These thoughtful design elements keep learners engaged and interested.

Point of Need

All of ej4’s training videos are in the microlearning format and are mobile-friendly. This allows employees to reference our safety training at the moment of need. Maybe an employee is having a hard time remembering the meaning of a certain label or pictogram. By accessing our content on a tablet or smartphone at their point of need (in the warehouse, on a delivery truck in-between job), they can take a few minutes to refresh their memory and ensure they are doing their job safely and correctly.

Training Reinforcement

It’s important to make sure all this training sticks, which is why our courses come with “4tify your Learning,” our training reinforcement tool. These quizzes, delivered immediately following the exam, 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months, and 4 months later, help move the information from the learner’s short-term to long-term memory.
