Vodafone Turkey considers “people”, as its most valuable asset and adopts the minimization of any kind of losses by creating a safer and healthier working environment as a primary business target.
Based on our commitment we set up Vodafone's Safety, Health and Well-being team with 30 persons consisting of 13full-time safety specialists and 17 workplace physicians and nurses aimed to improve safety, health and well-being since 2009 in all around Turkey Vodafone workplaces.
H&S committees in each regions leading by Safety Specialists to aim to get the employer, employees and contractors attendance and commitment on H&S bi monthly since 2009. So all shareholders have been sharing the comments all together to create safer and healthier workplace for all ecosystem employees covering the contractors even the customers at the shops.
As a consequence of “Zero Incident” approach; we manage our entire work safety, health and well-being system under the frame of Vodafone Absolute Rules together with accident investigations, lessons learnt sharings, inspection findings, corrective actions and etc., Just in 2018 1573 Safety Checks were done on site to be sure that contractors are working safely according to the Vodafone H&S standards.
We delivered the cash penalty fine to the contractors who do not work in line with Vodafone H&S standards.
Team Leader’s Incentive program developed by H&S team to deliver the money getting out of the penalties to the contractor employee who have good H&S performance on site and engaging the others for safety since 2015. Total amount of 95.000 $ was delivered to 516 single contractor employees.
As a telecommunication company we have been leading the digitalization transformation to change the daily routine in a digital way such as site audit system developed by H&S Team have been monitoring by an android application with Safety Specialists. 1471 digital safety audit hold by safety specialists since August 2018 to August 2019.
The other digital project was about telematics installed into the vehicles which work for Vodafone Turkey such as distributor companies, investor companies, contractors and Vodafone employees to monitor the speed limit violations to avoid the incidents. 2529 vehicles have been monitoring with telematics since 2010 .When a speed limit report receives , first the driver is warned by verbally, if we receive second speed limit violation report for the same driver, HR committee make a decision for the driver for a written warning letter, if the driver going on the speeding the driver can lose his/her job in Vodafone Turkey’s ecosystem.
The camera installation is the other digital solution to monitor the road traffic behaviors of the drivers who drive for Vodafone Turkey activities on site. 744 vehicles have been monitoring with the cameras since 2017.
Health & Safety Awareness is the other critical part to create the H&S culture all across the Vodafone Turkey ecosystem. Improving the H&S awareness we have been organizing the awareness activities such as contents, festivals, training courses, Senior Management Tours(SMT) on H&S.
SMTs are targeted for all leaders begin with CEO and his direct reporters. Also Vodafone Turkey has the mandatory H&S Training courses that the employees must get before the work on site such as work at height, defensive driving, first aid, safety on electricity work, fundamentals of Absolute Rules. 84635 hour training delivered to contractor employee and Vodafone Turkey employees received the 7132 hour mandatory training course in 2018/19
Many projects relating to health and well-being for our employees and their families in all locations, with 14 workplace physicians such as continuous healthcare service, seminars , pregnancy care program, checkup services, eye and ear screening and vaccination practices, hygiene controls and inspections in kitchen, dining hall, cafeteria and toilet areas, analyses of food samples to meet the legal compliance and create a healthier workplace.
