For Truth Initiative, 2017 was a year of momentum. We made tremendous strides by focusing on the populations most impacted by tobacco use, we were innovators in smoking cessation and we activated youth to end tobacco use in communities around the country.

Our benefits program includes 100% paid medical, dental and vision coverage for employees and their entire families including domestic partners. We also have a generous 401K retirement program into which Truth Initiative automatically contributes 15% of each employees’ salary.

Truth Initiative supports individual growth through professional development, tuition assistance, and workplace training, and we promote work/life balance through the option to telework as well as a remote work option. Our tuition assistance program includes up to $10,000 per calendar year for work-related continuing education (and up to $5,000 per calendar year for non-work related continuing education). We also offer two professional development opportunities per year for each staff member.
In 2017, we elevated our commitment to professional development by adding a new employee benefit, Truth yoU. This dynamic new program was introduced to enhance both personal and professional growth and to foster a culture of learning and curiosity. To date, Truth yoU has hosted over 50 events including 7 visiting authors on various relevant and compelling topics from mindfulness meditation to Gen Z research. Staff also receive free, signed copies of each visiting authors’ book.
We provide a generous leave program to all full-time employees. In the first year of hire, employees earn 4 weeks paid vacation, 3 weeks of sick leave and 3 personal days plus 13 paid holidays. Each year the vacation days increase by 1 day until they have reached the 30-day maximum. We also provide one month paid leave for parents with newborns in addition to the employer short-term disability a new parent can take. To ensure joyful holiday weekends, we close at 3:00pm on the day before holiday to ensure less stress for traveling employees.
Our organization provides free healthy breakfast 5 days a week, free healthy lunch 2 days a week and healthy snacks every afternoon. We also provide free confidential smoking cessation counseling benefits to all staff and their family members. We strongly encourage employees to stay healthy and fit by covering up to $45 per month of the cost of a membership in a health or fitness club of the employee’s choice. We have also provided all employees with free Fitbits to encourage walking/movement and participation in organizational challenges.
Truth initiative employees also engage in a variety of organization-wide volunteer committees that contribute to the wellbeing of our workplace and surrounding community. These committees include the Diversity Committee, Fun Committee, Environmental & Service Committee and Health & Wellness Committee, which plan and execute events and experiences ranging from office celebrations to community service outings. Our Health and Wellness committee offers wellness challenges and events such as "Couch to 5K" "Walking Wednesdays". The committee also works with local fitness studios to secure complimentary sessions for staff.
