Envision a circular flow diagram. It starts with team members who are happy and, thus, productive. An arrow leads from this hard-working group to an increase in company sales and revenue. Then an arrow leads from this increased revenue to a subsequent increase in philanthropic giving. And then it comes full circle – a third arrow links the increase in giving to the same group of team members who, consequently, are now happier and more productive.

This continuous cycle of happy team, increased profit, and generous giving is the N2 Publishing way. It’s the simple basis through which the organization has become one of the fastest-growing media companies in the nation – one that’s repeatedly recognized for being a great place to work by the likes of Inc. Magazine, Entrepreneur, Fortune, and more.

N2 Publishing is the leader in its niche industry, creating custom publications for affluent neighborhoods that connect neighbors to neighbors and business owners to hard-to-reach customers. Through their flagship product, however, the true passion of N2’s leaders is realized: growing a nationwide company that actually cares about its people.

To touch on recent accomplishments, one must first acknowledge N2’s steadfast devotion to creating the best company culture in the world (see Culture Deck). A lofty goal, no doubt, but this is what the company strives for, and it’s a strong culture of caring that has propelled N2’s rapid growth, and thus, increased its philanthropic impact. In 2017 alone, N2 earned a spot on the following award lists: Fortune’s Best Medium Workplaces (see blog post), Entrepreneur’s Top Company Cultures (see article), Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work, Best & Brightest Companies to Work For, OUTSIDE’s Best Places to Work, and SHRM’s When Work Works. In 2018, it’s earned the following recognition thus far: Inc.’s Best Workplaces, Entrepreneur’s Top New Franchises (see advertorial), and Franchise Business Review’s Top Companies for Franchisee Satisfaction, as well as two awards that are not yet publicly announced.

N2 has earned such extensive recognition in part by offering unique benefits to its corporate team members.

Through the N2 First-Time Home Buyer Program (see press release), launched in December of 2017, team members who have worked for N2 for at least two years and are ready to purchase their first home receive a financial gift of $7,000 to put towards the down payment. To date, 12 team members have become homeowners with help from this program. This year, N2 partnered with a pediatric office to cover costs of a pediatric care membership for team members. This allows for free child visits and 24/7 access to pediatricians.

For the company’s franchisees, whose main role is advertising sales, N2 offers a coveted, drama-free sales culture – one of camaraderie and support. It’s safe to say word about this noncompetitive sales life (and the generous commission structure) has spread. N2 made the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing companies in the U.S. for the seventh consecutive year, touting a triple-digit growth rate while remaining a debt-free company all the while (see press release). This growth, in large part, is due to personal recruits from N2 franchisees who encourage other cultural fits to join the team.

With its increase in revenue came the company’s most cherished accomplishment – donating more to fight human trafficking. N2 Publishing not only stands against modern-day slavery, but its devoted 2% of total revenue to help end it. In 2016, N2 became involved on a corporate level, donating $2.1 million to the cause.

In 2017, this increased to $2.7 million (see Inside Philanthropy article). This year, N2 has pledged $3 million to help bring hope to the hopeless.

Employer of the Year Summary:

-Made the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies in America for the seventh consecutive year.

-Donated more than $5 million to the fight against human trafficking.

-Funded the purchase of a house in Wilmington, NC (where N2’s corporate office is located) now used as an emergency shelter for sex trafficking victims.

-Ranked #5 on Entrepreneur’s Top Company Culture list.

-Launched the N2 First-Time Home Buyer Program.

-Increased revenue to $137 million.

-Increased neighborhood publication count to 950+.

-Increased national reach to now serve communities in 47 states.

-Continues to remain a debt-free company.

-Launched two new products – Real Producers and Explore Local – and has four additional products currently in test mode.
