Arkas Game is a game-based learning platform created in 2016 by 4 of the Arkas employees (our talents) who have shown to have high potential during the Talent Management Programme of Arkas Holding. The aim of the game is to offer a competitive and fun learning experience by allowing the players to learn the corporate culture and the strategic priorities of the Arkas group, to have more information about the main areas that the company offers services in (namely Agency, Port and Logistics Services) and to find out the risks and the opportunities that may be encountered during the work processes.
The business and strategy game “Arkas Game” has been very successful especially in terms of increasing awareness and connection between various departments, allowing more collaboration, increasing the employees motivation, letting them see the risks and opportunities in the business and giving information about the company’s main business areas and its strategic priorities in a fun and competitive way.
Arkas Game provides an opportunity to learn about Arkas and the Arkas locations all around the world (offices, agencies, ports). The board game is a map where all the locations are marked, offering a visual experience, enabling the players to see the bigger picture.
W e completed the pilot practice of the Arkas Game, presented it to the upper management and got the approval as to its launch. After the approval, Arkas Human Resources Department organized a Tournament of the Arkas Game to allow the Arkas employees to become a part of this learning experience. For the tournament, 480 questions have been prepared by a professional committee. The members of this professional committee are dedicated Arkas managers who have been working at Arkas for a very long time and who at the same time are our instructors that deliver job based trainings within the company.
The game has been integrated with the Arkpedia project. Arkpedia is a learning platform within our website where the employees can gather more information about their fields. To participate in the tournament, the first step was to answer the weekly sent questions (1 question per week) correctly. The questions and visuals were sent via e-mail and the motto was *Go to Portal and Answer the Question*. The answers of all the 480 questions and the selected questions sent in the e-mails are all present in Arkpedia. In total 54 people who completed the Arkpedia step were eligible and competed in the Tournament. The finals of the Tournament took place in Arkas Headquarters in Izmir with the participation of our seniors and employees. The members of the champion team won a Barcelona trip for 4 days (5 May - 8 May 2017). Each member got tickets and reservations for two people, were allowed to bring a guest of their choice to the trip.
